Description

In this lesson, students learn about might and may through guided discovery based on a listening about making decision,The lesson starts with pre-teaching two key words ( decisive , indecisive ) and continues with a conversation between a man and a woman .This is followed by the audio script of the listening that students should fill in the blanks and will highlight the model sentence ,and then they will be given grammar handout to read about the rules and answer some questions.After that there is one controlled practice and one freer practice which will be followed by delayed error correction.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The students will be presented a picture on the board showing a man ( Adrian) and a woman(Tina) , and they are supposed to talk two by two and decide what's the man' s problem.Then the teacher will get the feedback and elicit the words" decisive" and " indecisive"

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The teacher asks them a question related to the picture , and then plays the audio. Then they will share their answers with each other and the teacher will check.The they should complete the dialogue together without listening.Then they will go and write the answers on the board.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The students should highlight the verb phrases in their paper and then on the board

Clarification (12-14 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher gives the student a handout including the model sentence and some questions related to the meaning and form of the structure . They should read and answer individually and then check with each other . After that they will be given the answer key to check.Then the teacher will work on the form and pronunciation on the board and asks them to repeat.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students will be given a gap-filled exercise to do one by one and then check in pairs.After that they will write their answers on the board and the teacher will check.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The teacher will group the students , and now they should ask and answer some questions they are given in the last handout.After four minutes the teacher will get the feedback from each group.In the end she will corrects their errors on the board.
