“There was my name up in lights. I said, 'God, somebody's made a mistake.' But there it was, in lights. And I sat there and said, 'Remember, you're not a star.' Yet there it was up in lights.” ― Marilyn Monroe, Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters T writes the quote on board and asks Ss what it is about. Ss discuss in pairs. T tries to elicit the answer "She's talking about a memory / a past event". Later, a WC FB.

Pre-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T divides class into two groups. T hands HO1. Ss have 2 minutes to match the pictures with the words in groups. While Ss are busy, T hangs the answers on different parts of the walls. Then, Ss check the answers of the other group and the answers on the walls. T drills some words such as "divorce" , "marriage" , "coal miner" and "charity".

While-Reading #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

"What do you know about Andy Warhol?" "What do you know about Princess Diana?" T asks these questions. Ss have 2 minutes to discuss in groups and then a quick WC FB. T names one group Andy Warhol and the other one Princess Diana and writes the question on the WB; "Was Andy a good student?" "Was Diana a good student?" "How did he die?" "How did she die?" T hands HO2 and tell Ss to fold them. Ss have 1 minute to skim the text and find the answers. They discuss their answers in groups and a WC FB.
