Description

In this lesson, Ss will be introduced to the topic of "Money and Time". To begin with, Ss will listen to a song. Secondly, the T will present three blocking words then the T will ask Ss to gist the text. Afterward, The T will ask them to read the text for specific information. last but not least, the T will come up with some related topics for discussion. Finally, the T will have some error corrections orally.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T starts the class with a very short and brief greeting and quickly group Ss. In order to set the context, the T asks Ss to listen to a song and tell what it was about. The T provides Ss with a couple of Qs and asks them to talk them over in their groups (HO1).

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The T puts the first picture on the board and tries to elicit the word "confusion". The T asks some CCQs to clarify the meaning (V.A sheet), then the T provides the Ss with its pronunciation and finally its form (verb and noun) The T shows the second picture on the board and tries to elicit the word "invisible". The T asks some CCQs to clarify the meaning (V.A sheet), then the T provides the Ss with its pronunciation and finally its form. The T goes to the third picture to elicit the word "increase". The T asks some CCQs to clarify the meaning (V.A sheet), then the T provides the Ss with its pronunciation and finally its form (verb and noun)

While-Reading (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

Gist reading. The T provides Ss with the first paragraph of the text and asks them to skim it and answer a general Q. Q.: What is the text about? Ins.: I want you to read the text individually and answer the Q. ICQ: Are you going to read it alone or with your partners? partners. The T asks them to check their understanding with their peers.

While-Reading (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading task

Reading For specific information. The T provides Ss with the whole text. The T asks Ss to read the whole text in 10 minutes and check if the statements are True or False. Ins.: I want you to read it individually and if the sentences are True put T and if they are False put F. ICQ: Are you going to read it alone or with your partner? Alone. What do you write if the sentence is True? The T asks Ss to come up to the board and write the answers.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The T grabs the Ss' attention and provides them with a couple of Qs to talk (HO3) The T starts to monitor and tries to collect some errors. The T writes the errors on the board and elicits the correct form from the learners. (If needed): in case there is an extra time, the T provides the Ss with a "role-play" activity (HO4)
