Description

In this lesson, students will learn and practice the use of adjectives before the noun. The lesson will include certain tasks from matching to re-ordering and provide the learners with chances to practice grammar and speaking in the selected context.

Main Aims

  • -To work on the Grammar in the context of famous landmarks from different countries

Subsidiary Aims

  • - To work on the speaking in the context of nationalities and their landmarks.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Students will begin the lesson with a PPT collage showing nine different flags. -T will ask if they recognize each of these flags. - If there is any unknown flag, T will try to elicit the name, if not possible, she will provide the answer herself and drill the sounds in each name. -On the slide they will see famous things from different countries, with each one T will ask the following questions. What is it? and Where is it from? ` WC FB

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- T will distribute the first handout and ask them to complete the gaps with the correct adjectives. -After it is complete, Ss will be asked to check their answers in pairs. -T will play the recording provided by the textbook (5.12) and ask them to check their answers. FB Instructions: `On this worksheet, you see nine different things. I want you to complete the sentences with the correct adjectives.` ICQs: `You are going to complete the sentences with what?`

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will write three maker sentences on WB to show the differences between the use of adjectives before the nouns and verb to be with adjective.. Marker sentences: It`s an American car. My car is American. It`s a Japanese camera. -T will do back chain drilling for them to correct their pronunciation.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-T will give the second HOs and ask them to complete the gap-fill activity individually and then pair check their answers. Instructions: Please take a look at the worksheet and complete the sentences. Then check your answers with your partner. ICQs: `Are you going to answer with your partner or alone? And what are you going to do? We are going to fill in the gaps.`

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-T will give attached papers that include one sentence in each and divide the students into groups.( Grouping process will be done according to a color scheme) -Each group will have 5 mixed sentences and try to re-arrange them into a correct order. -When they are done, T will ask them to compare their own answers with the other groups. -At the end of the task, they will be given correct answers by the T. Instructions: You have five sentences in front of you, I want you to get them into a correct order. And when it is over; check your answers with the partner. T will give 3 minutes to order the sentences. First pair check and then T gives the AK. After that WC FB.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

-T will distribute the HO and ask them to finish the sentences. Then PW. ICQ : What are we going to ? Are we going to write or listen?

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- T wants ss to stand up, get in line and turn back. Work in pairs. - T will stick a picture on their back and T wants them to guess what's on their back? Instructions: Stand up, get in line and turn back. I will stick a picture on your back. Then I want for you to guess what's on your back? Ask your partner and try to find the picture. Is it an American car? ICQs : Are you going to write? (no) Are you going to guess what's on your partner's back?(no) If T has enough time, T asks their items 'What's on your back?' then wants them to write it.
