Description

In this lesson, students learn a set of new vocabulary on clothes items as well as how to describe clothes that they wear, like/dislike to wear.

Procedure

Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will give ss a pairs task in which ss be handed a questionnaire in order to interview one another and make notes of their partner's answers on the worksheet. When the students have finished, the questionnaires are taken in and redistributed in a way that the students get a questionnaire that is neither their own nor their partners'. The students read the answers on the new questionnaire, correct the mistakes in it and then guess who it belongs to. The students then check whether they guessed correctly.

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • Elicit vocabulary and prepare ss for the listening

1) Ss will be given a handouts and will be asked to match the pictures in the handouts with the names they think they belong to. Ss will next check their neighbors' answers for pairs correction, and then will be given the answer key. 2) T will show the ss a picture of four celebrities and give them two questions to discuss and answer in pairs.

While-Listening (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging and specific information listening task. To provide students with more challenging detailed listening task.

1) T will play an audio track that the students will listen to and try to fill-in the gaps in handout#1. The students then will check their answers in pairs, and get the answer key. 2) Students will get to listen to track for a second time and will be asked to give more details about the statements in the handouts handed to them. Then checking answers in pairs for correction.

Vocabulary (10-15 minutes) • To provide review and practice in the context of fashion. Eliciting.

1) T will hand the ss a handout (5.a) where there's a table they need to fill in pairs with specific information. The task will be done as a competition between the students, pair of ss who finish first, win. 2) The ss then will be handed a matching handouts (1.a) that they should match the statement with the number of picture it matches. 3) Afterward, T will give them a gap-fill handout (T.M) of different sentences and definitions of the words underlined in those sentences. Ss need to choose the correct words for the definitions that match them. 4) Finally, the T will do a controlled practice(1.c). Ss will work on a task where they will match some statement with the pictures that belong to, and then check in pairs.

Pronunciation (5-7 minutes) • To provide practice

1) T will show a picture on PPT of a table that contains six words and their vowel sounds, and the students will work in pairs to figure out which ones are short, long sounds, and which ones are diphthongs. 2) After that, the T will go through the phrases in exercise 6.d to get the ss practice saying those phrases.

Speaking (5-5 minutes) • To provide accuracy

T will group the ss in groups of 3 - 4 and ask them to prepare for a fashion show and which one of each group will walk in front of his classmates and they will describe what each of the ss who walk is wearing.
