To provide clarification and practice of Short answers and negatives in the context of Listening practice
To provide gist and specific information from the context
Procedure (45-60 minutes)
T will show a picture to Ss and stick it on the board, T will ask (instructions using gestures ) Ss to predict who the guys in the picture are and will try to give them hints in case they didn't understand the instructions (ICQ) . T will have them do WF after giving predictions .
T wil play the listening track to verify if Ss predictions are correct . Ss will be paired and will discuss the predictions together while T is monitoring ( Ss shouldn't be given the text although it's said so in the book , they should only listen)
Students will be paired together in order to complete the blanks of exercise 2 . T's aim at this step is to make them elicit what they learned so far so they can practice together and benefit from each other. T should pair strong Ss with shy or weak SS so that everybody will be engaged . T should interact sometimes and check if they're on the right path ( CCQ)
T will clarify the target language using questions from exercise 3 . T will break down the rules and will have Ss make their own sentences to test their understanding . T will do CCQ and will give wrong forms to see Ss reactions and make them correct it themselves. For ex ; Is Istanbul in Brazil ? Answer : No it is not . T will be drilling mispronounced words over and over .
Ss will mainly be practicing what they've learned through some more challenging exercises from workbook . First exercises which are Workbook p.18 ex 7 and 8 will be a controlled practice , Ss will be practicing in pairs while T is monitoring . Next exercise will be a semi controlled (ex5 Page 20) which will be done individually .T will give instructions on how to do the exercises both and will ICQ
