Description

In this lesson, students will listen and talk about the taste of unusual food item. The lesson begins withg a video about unusual food foiiowed by a listening text and a post listening exercise. After that the students will practice the interview with each other using food taste expressions.

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a interview in the context of unusual food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I play a video about unusual food and discuss with them what do they think, and if they would eat such food

Pre-Listening (4-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask the students if they have ever eaten anything unusual Focus the students' attention on the photos and ask if anyone has ever eaten any of these things. if so, ask them to describe the taste. Ask the students to say what they think each of the things in the pictures would taste like

While-Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Tell the students that they're going to hear someone who's eaten all these things describing the taste Draw their attention to the table where column (A) shows how these items were cooked and (B) describes their taste. Explain any new word Listen to the recording

While-Listening #2 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Play the recording for the students Ask the students to match the dishes with the describtions Play it again if necessary Check answers in pair then with the class

Post-Listening (4-6 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Put the students in pairs to discuss the questions. Ask them to report back to the class on what they found out.

If - time activity (1-3 minutes) • To provide students with free practice

A student will think of a food , Other students will guess it by asking Yes/ No questions The winner is the one who guess the right answers
