In this lesson students will learn about phrasal verbs, study therules for sepersble and non-separable phrasal verbs and make a phrasal verb sentence with pronoun

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will play with the students miming game : " I do a phrasal verb action and they say what I am doing. Elcit to the students that these verbs are called "phrasal verbs" Look at the lesson and focus the students' attentionon the information in the margins point out the two types of phrasal verbs: intranstive and transtive verbs

Test #1 (4-6 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Exercise 1: Ask the students to look at the table and give them time to notice the position of something in separable and non separable transtive verbs. Ask the students to match the verbs in the table with their meanings in the box. Encourage them to look at the text on page 32

Teach (6-8 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Exercise 2: Focus the students attention on the four sentences on exercise 2. Let them see the difference between the four sentences Ask the student to find the sentence that is incorrect , then complete the rule. Let them check in pairs then give them feed back

Test #2 (6-8 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Exercise 3 Go through the example with the class, pointing out it conforms to the rule. Ask them to complete the exercise and to take care that the rules of pronouns don't appeal for the inseparable verbs. Go a round giving help if needed Let them check in pairs then give them feed back

Free practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Put students in pairs and give them the 2 handouts , let one of them be A and the other B Monitor them while they are working and give help if needed. The wining pair is the pair who can get the phrasal verb and its meaning. Give them feedbak and praise their good use of knowledge
