Description

In this lesson, Students will be focusing on grammar: 'some /most/many' and "of' Students will be looking at where to use these words in sentences and when to add the 'of'. They will also be doing a survey on each other, so they are able to practice speaking and communicating with each other.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of some, many and most in the context of nouns and phrases.
  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Survey in the context of using some, many and most with phrases.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of using 'of' in sentences.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Looking at using 'of' with grammar words: some. many and most. (Ppt slide) Show many students: e.g. 'This school has many students' Show many of students: e.g. 'many of the student did their homework'. Not all the students.

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify how 'of' is used in the sentences making sure Ss have a full understanding.

(Ppt slide) Show table of how to form the words. Make some sentences Exercise 1: Place 'of' in the sentences PW then FB

Grammar practice (8-10 minutes) • To practice using the form.

Exercise 2 : By looking at the table, make 5 sentences from it. work in Pairs and check answers FB

Speaking and finding specific information through a survey (10-15 minutes) • To get the students to work as a group and as a class on finding out Ss skills, town, travel, lives, food and drink, favourites.

Ss do a survey. 1.Make groups of 3 or 4 Ss, depending of the amount of Ss. 2.Hand out survey, give the same survey to group one and same survey for group 3, etc. 3.Show multi-choice answers for each question. 4. Each group finds out about each other and fills in the blank spaces. Monitor 5.Grouprs split up and work individually, find out answers from other Ss.

Presentation (8-10 minutes) • To be able to gather information together and write a short report and be able to present it.

Original groups come back together and write a short report on what they found out - using the grammar table. PW Groups then present it to the whole class.
