Description

In this lesson learners will focus on receptive skills of reading and sub skill gist reading and as out put of the class will be productive skills of speaking. The context of the lesson is based on two families and wife exchange. students are familiar with this topic because they have studied family's member last few sessions. In this session students will read and test their understanding. In this lesson students will do different activities which involves reading, such as underline Margaret or Caroline and put (✔) or (❌) for things are good and bad then they will read some information about them.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about Wife exchange in the context of Families

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Depate in the context of Two Families

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Writing the word exchange on the board and asking how can they do this in their life ?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Holding picture or using data show and asking them to describe what can they see ? What is the relationship between these people ? And telling them about two wives exchange home and families for two weeks

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Point to eight sentences and ask them to listen and read to know about Margaret and Caroline 's life , then they underline Margaret or Caroline

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Listen to Caroline speaking about Margaret's family and Margaret speaking about Caroline 's family. Put (❌) to thinks they think are bad , and put (✔) to the things they think are good.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Check your answer together . Do you agree with Margaret and Caroline? What do you think which is family better? How do they exchange their life for better ?
