Procedure (34-43 minutes)
T enters the class, greets students and start to set everything up ( the pdf ) T asks students how are they doing? Then, we have a quick discussion about what did they do in the past few days( just to get them into the mood ) T displays the pp and then starts to ask sts questions about the pictures. what can you see from the first pic( someone washes his/her face) is it something we do on a daily basis? T asks sts what tense would you use to describe this pic? " we use present simple " sts answered. T accepts the answer. T asks about the second pic. ( someone is delivering a speech as me ) . T asks sts so what am I doing now? " you are speaking to us" sts answered. T agrees and asks sts " what tense did we use here? " it is present continues" sts said. T clarifies that today we are going to learn about present simple and present continuous. T displays 5 questions as the lead-in part. T tells sts the instructions of the task and ask icqs. Next, sts commence to speak in pairs for 5 min. T conduct feedback from sts and accepts all answers.
PTV: T tells sts " you are going to read about kim and mark, who are trying a new lifestyle, but before that lets learn 2 new vocabularies. T tells sts a story when I was in the forest. T starts to explain the meaning through the story, while there is a pic of the forest on the ppt. T asks ccqs, such as is it a place in the middle of the city? is it full of trees or cars? T models and drills, then writes it on the board. Second word, which is blanket. T shows sts a pic of it and then asks sts ccqs. Do we use the blanket in summer or winter? T models and drills, then writes it on the board. T moves on to exposure and starts with reading task.( gist task) T tells sts instructions and check them. After that, sts commence the reading task for 1 min. After they finish, they check the answer together. T monitors from its place while they are reading. T gets the answer from sts to make sure they got it correct. T shows the next slide, which is reading for details. sts read individually and answer 5 questions. T tells instructions and check them. they read for 5 minutes. After they finish, they check the answer together. T monitors from its place while they are reading. T gets the answer from sts to make sure they got it correct and asks sts to justify their answers. Then, T shows AK.
T displays a slide, which has questions that sts will solve in pairs to get the meaning and the form on their own. After that, the two groups check together, while T monitors and never interfere.
If the T notices that sts are confused at some points, T starts to explain briefly and asks CCQS to make sure that they understood it accurately. T models and drills the two sentences, afterwards, T writes the two sentences on the board. An extra step I would like to do is to write the form and the meaning of the two tenses in bullet points on the board. Consequently, my sts will have an organized board, which is easy for them to memorize the grammar lesson.
T displays a slide, which has the controlled practice. The controlled practice is a mcq task, which each student will solve individually. T tells instructions and asks icqs to check them. Students commence to solve the task, while the teacher is monitoring. After they finish, they check together. Then, T conducts nominative feedback and asks sts to correct the wrong answer if there is one. Next, T shows the answer key.
T displays 4 questions related to the topic, which the sts read about. T tells instructions, check them and asks sts to find 2 things in common about their lifestyle. Then, he/she divides sts into pairs to speak. they speak for 5 minutes, while T is monitoring. After they are done, T conducts nominative feedback to check what are the two common things between each two students. T moves on for language feedback. praise sts for what they said correctly and ask them to correct the mistake( T never mentions the student, who made the mistake). Finally, T asks sts what did you learn today and elicit answers from sts. T asks them " do you have any question?" and then says see you next time.
