Lesson 1 - Self introduction - Ushizu 5 minute
B1 - Intermediate level

Description

in this lesson, students will learn about their new teacher

Materials

No materials added to this plan yet.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed and specific information listening practice using a text about new teacher
  • Ss will be exposed to and practise saying key facts about the teacher (name, hometown, hobbies) using the frames *"My name is..., I'm from..., I like..."*

Subsidiary Aims

  • Ss will recognize two extra personal details (cats; rainy-day preference) as supporting/receptive language, not as a new productive target — there isn't time to drill a second structure today.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-1 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

engage Ss, activate curiosity | Show photo/slide. Ask: *"Who is this? What's my name?"* Take a few quick guesses, no correction.

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

model target language with visuals | Point and model, 2–3 times each: *"My name is Jay." / "I'm from Scotland and Oregon." / "I like video games, archery, and reading."* Then add one light bonus line with photos: *"I have three cats. I love tea and reading on rainy days!"*

Controlled Practice (1-2 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

accurate reproduction of the three core frames | Choral drill, 3 rounds: *"My name is Jay." "I'm from Scotland and Oregon." "I like video games, archery, and reading." * Point-and-say: point to name/map/hobby icons, Ss say the matching sentence.
