To provide clarification, review and practice of phrasal verbs in the context of money
Procedure (33-44 minutes)
The students will be asked 2 questions regarding the topic of money. The questions will be: Do you need to make some extra money right now? What ideas come to your mind? I will elicit vocabulary the students already know.
A text will be provided that will expose the students to the TL (Phrasal Verbs).
To teach students about phrasal verbs
We will go over the MFP of phrasal verbs, showing the definition and kinds of phrasal verbs, showing examples of and using sentences with phrasal verbs. Also we will be drillling pronunciation of these phrasal verbs (word stress usually falls on the particle). I will ask concept-checking questions.
The students will be given a quiz to practice phrasal verbs. Then open class feedback will be done.
The students will be asked these questions that use phrasal verbs: Have you taken out a mortgage? Have you paid it back? Have you paid off a loan? They will be asked to go into breakout rooms to discuss.
