Description

students will learn to identify and distinguish four types of sentences : declarative interrogative imperative exclamatory and recognize the appropriate punctuation used with each type.

Materials

Abc power point presentation\senteces cards / White board / work sheets

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in 2min (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

the teacher display four sentences on the PowerPoint and asks students what each sentence is doing . Students think, discuss, with a partner and share their answers

Presentation (5 min)

The teacher interduces the four types of sentences : Declarative Interrogative Imperative exclamatory the teacher explains the purpose and punctuation of each type using simple examples and concept checking questions

practice (4min)

Students identify the type of different sentences shown on the power point . They answer individually and then compare their answers with partner . the teacher monitor and provide feed back

production (5 min)

Students work in teams each team identifies the type of a sentences and then changes it into a different type . teams share their answers with the class .

wrap- up (2 min) (2 minutes)

The teacher reviews the four sentences types and asks students to give examples. students summarize what they have learned .

home work (2 minutes)

the teacher assigns home work ; students write one examples of each type
