Procedure (71-90 minutes)
Explain: Course objectives Weekly dynamics English-only expectation Participation system Team competitions Final English Olympics End with: "This course isn't about being perfect. It's about becoming more confident and speaking naturally."
Students write: Two true statements One false statement Example: I have visited six countries. I once met a famous actor. I hate dogs. Students work in groups guessing the lie. Teacher observes: ✔ Confidence ✔ Fluency ✔ Interaction (No correction.)
Students rotate every 3 minutes. Questions What did you do this summer? What's something you're proud of this year? What's your favorite way to relax? What's one thing you're looking forward to? Tell me about your dream vacation. Teacher simply listens.
Each student speaks individually for one minute. Let students choose one topic to reduce anxiety: Tell me about a memorable trip. Describe a challenge you overcame. What's one goal you're working toward? Tell me about someone who has influenced you. Describe your ideal weekend. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? What are you most excited or nervous about regarding moving to the U.S.? Speak continuously for one minute. No stopping. If they pause for more than five seconds, classmates ask a question to keep them going. Diagnostic Rubric Score each category from 1–5. Fluency Pronunciation Grammar Accuracy Vocabulary Range Interaction (answers follow-up questions naturally) Total: 25 points
Each student shares: One thing they did well in English today. One goal they have for this course.
