Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set the lessons context and get students attention and engagement

I place the pictures on W/B and ask students to guess the topic of the lesson today. I write the ideas on the W/B

Speaking Activity (5-7 minutes) • To develop students' productive speaking fluency skills

We discuss what the pictures are about. Ask them if they know famous rich people who are generous Bill Gates, Angelina Jolie, Rahmi Koc, Sakip Sabanci, who else. Gizem Akhan not rich but famous with her contributions to the society. I tell a story about Elif, trying to elicit altruistic.

Pre-Reading (3-5 minutes) • Eliciting new vocabulary

I ask students to pair up and tell them I will give them H/O to read and discuss with their friend. Before I give them out I will make sure they know the meanings of a ''blood donor'', ''blood transfusion'' and ''philanthropist'' CCQ : If I had hepatitis can I be a blood donor ? Is blood transfusions used during big surgical operations Can you call Rahmi Koc a philanthropist?

Reading / Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To develop students' receptive (reading) and productive(speaking) skills

Students will scan read the text to get the total information about the two different men. Then they will be working in pairs discussing which is more generous and why? They will change partners and try to find out how many different examples of altruistic behaviour they can think of.

Reading / Gap Filling /Speaking (12-15 minutes) • To develop students's fluency and creativity

The students receive the Meeting Report Handout, where they will write down the results of the meeting they will have in groups or in pairs. They will fill in the gaps with their partner and then change partners, when they will read and discuss new partner's report.

Wrapping-Up (3-5 minutes) • speaking

Students will discuss open class which idea to be applied on the Good Deeds Day
