Procedure (36-45 minutes)
Show the pictures from the previous lesson p.6 Ask students: -who are these people? Where are they? What are they doing?
Ask students to read the dialogue in p.6 and answer the following questions: What’s the man’s name? Who is Sally? Are they meeting for the first time? Ask ICQS. - Do the task individually, pair check, then whole class feedback.
Ask students to read the dialogue again and underline am, is,or are (contracted forms). Ask ICQs Ask students: What do these words have in common? Why do we say I’m and not I am here? Which pronouns goes with ‘m? Which pronouns goes with ‘s? ETC Ask CCQs I’m Matt? Am I talking about myself? (Yes) ETC Drill the pronunciation and elicit the form.
Exercise 2a Ask students to do exercise 2a. Ask them to complete the sentence with ‘m, ‘s or ‘re. And ask ICQs. -Do the task individually, pair check, whole class feedback.
Exercise 2e Ask students to try to remember the names in their class and use ‘He’s … /She’s …’ Ask ICQs Monitor and provide help if needed.
Exercise 2f Ask students to stand up and talk to different classmates introducing themselves to them. They can ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation going? Ask ICQs. Monitor and provide help if needed. Provide delayed error correction.
