Main Aims

Procedure (45-59 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce the lesson context using a visual of an urban animal and an engaging discussion question to lower students' affective filters and get them talking instantly.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Have students look at the page 88 text regarding city raccoons and foxes to notice target multi-word prepositions in context.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Put four example sentences on the board and have students work in pairs to infer and highlight the bold connector phrases.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
