Description

The lesson begins with a picture of different weather conditions to help students guess the topic of the lesson. Next, students take part in a puzzle game by answering questions to reveal pieces of a hidden picture showing different types of weather. After identifying the lesson topic, the teacher introduces the target vocabulary. Students then complete a matching activity by matching the new words with their pictures. During the reading stage, students read the text, predict what will happen next, color the picture based on the information in the passage, and underline the new vocabulary words. In the post-reading stage, students talk about their favorite type of weather and explain why they like it. Finally, the teacher provides feedback and corrects common pronunciation and present simple grammar mistakes.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher shows the students a picture with different types of weather and asks them to guess the topic of today's lesson. Students share their ideas and describe what they can see in the picture.

pre-reading (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher starts a puzzle game. Students answer a series of questions, and each correct answer reveals one piece of a hidden picture. When all the pieces are revealed, the complete picture shows different weather conditions. Students work together to guess the topic of the lesson. After that, the teacher introduces and explains the target vocabulary: gloomy, thunderstorm, forecast, result, lightning, thunder, and rainbow.

while-reading (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Vocabulary Activity: Students match the target words with the correct pictures. Prediction Activity: Students read the first part of the text and predict what will happen next. Read and Color: Students read the passage and color the picture according to the information in the text. Vocabulary Hunt: Students read the complete text and underline the new vocabulary words.

The student will answer comprehension questions and complete a vocabulary activity in the Student's Book by completing the sentences with the words in the box.
