Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of adverbs of frequency in the context of daily routines and habits.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice speaking about routines, improve sentence formation, and build fluency and accuracy

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher introduces topic through images and short questions about daily habits and successful people. Students brainstorm ideas in pairs then share with the class.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Teacher presents the lesson input through a podcast and asks students' to do a simple listening task in which they put the ideas in order .

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher highlights adverbs of frequency and useful phrases connected to success habits. Students notice repeated language and identify important words through listening once more and underlining the word ( adverb of frequency )they hear.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Teacher clarifies meaning, form, and pronunciation of the adverbs of frequency. Students respond to concept-checking questions and complete brief guided tasks and drills.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students complete a structured task (placing the adverb of frequency in the correct place in each sentence). Teacher monitors, checks answers, and provides feedback.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students use the prompts to discuss their own habits . They use target language freely in pairs before sharing with the class.
