Description

In this lesson Ss will practice speaking skills for accuracy with target language grammar ; present simple , singular and plural through two activities and practice writing by forming a question and answer. In free speaking wrap up they share their questions with their partners.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of The present simple tense in the context of Singular and plural

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about The alphapet sounds letters in the context of Airport

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show Ss pictures of singular and plural ا. Ask them to say some information about them. Introduce the lesson about singular and plural. Ask students to tell things that they see in the class for example : A chair , tables , chairs , a pen , watch , pencils , books etc Divided Ss into teams and creat "a hot seat" for each teams. Explain the activity and rules. Conduct a trial example. Use cards of singular and plural things. In thecsame teams Ss report back with things they use in their life.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

This activity tests usage of the target language grammar. Ss practice speaking with acuracy by confirming correct usage of singular and plural in " what is this ? " & " what are these ? " in Exercise 2. Contraction are introduced by modeling sentences for practice and speaking fluency. Drilling works to clarify pronunciation of constructions reinforces listening for pronunciation

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ss practice writing correct grammatical sentences through fill gab and form questions and answers. Additional simple vocabulary has been added to assist students in speaking with fluency aboutvplural and singular.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Explaining that the alphabet is divided into vowels and consonant. Playing the recording for the students to listen and repeat the vowels.

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Asking them to find the vowels in the chart in the margin and to see which consonants have the same sound

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Talking and discussing with each students about vowel and consonants . Asking them to tell words are similar in pronunciation

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Divided Ss into 2 groups vowels and consonants. Vowels work together to produce sound like (ei, ai , au , etc ). Then work with consonants to produce words
