Description

In this part, students will learn about foods that they like or not. Talk about them and learn how to speak and describe their favorite food, obeying a good diet and eating habits.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about getting to know types of food in the context of 3 people talk about their foods in their own countries

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a a chatting group in the context of food and eating habits

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Warm-up: Write these 3 words on the board (breakfast, lunch, dinner) Ask them : Please stand up if you have breakfast today./ Ask 1by1 : What did you have for breakfast? Lead-in : * What time did you have breakfast? *What time do you usually have lunch? Do people in all countries eat at the same time? no GREAT! Now open your books

Pre-Reading/Listening (1-20 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Practice 1 can be nice for a pre - reading exercise ICQs: 1: What do you see at first? 2: What can you see under this box? 3: How many photos do you see? 4: Are you going to write letters or the complete word? Let's do it alone in 2 mins Ok now change their seats and let them ask each other "What food do they like" ; they students must answer with "I like or I would like" .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (1-20 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Team up the students for instruction 2 ICQs: 1: How many questions are you going to answer? 2: Are you all allow to read just passage 1? 3: Are you gonna write the complete sentences or take a few notes to the questions? For checking the ask each group 2 questions.

Post-Reading/Listening (1-20 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The teacher asks students to work in pairs and discuss these 4 questions together. The teacher monitors and provides help when necessary and note common language errors. After that, the students will talk about 1-4 Qs and share their own ideas and give advices about healthy diet using appropriate vocabulary and simple recommendation structures. If they have problems in pronunciation related to the topic, the teacher corrects them on the spot.
