Listening and speaking to review and practice activity verbs in the context of `say how you spend your time`
Procedure (45-59 minutes)
The teacher comes in with a puppet. Introduces the puppet as her friend from Cuba,Jose. And shows some pictures on the board saying they belong to her friend Jose.
- the teacher elicits the words for the pictures on the things on the board from the Ss - Tt links the things to the verbs and make clarification of the use of the verbs with the exact collocations.
the Ss listen to Andre while he talks about how he spends his time. after listening they find proper verbs for specific items. they check with their partner.
the Ss listen to Andre one more time. - while listening Tt provides drilling and backchaining. - they find the exact collocations in the text. - they check with their partner. - Tt gives language models on the WB and clarifies the different collocations depending on different items.
the Ss are divided in pairs. sitting back to back. they are given cards with 4 different pictures. they have to tell them what they have in the pictures using the target language such as `I play football" they find the only common picture in both cards and they use the form `we both play football`
the Ss stand up. divided in to different group. in the firs part group A is given nouns, group B have to make the whole sentence: A says: piano, B says "I play the piano.` when they finish group B is given nouns and A makes the sentences. theacher times the activity.
the students write about themselves first, few sentences. they are divided in 3 people groups and they talk about how they spent their time. the teacher finishes the lesson with asking the group members about their friends.
