Description

I like, I don't like. The students will be introduced to these positive and negative forms, and will be asked to make sentences with them. In addition they will listen to audio which involves these forms, and be asked to formulate sentences using both forms.

Procedure

Lead in / Building Context - (3 minutes) • Get students used to the grammar and language, build context

T. Will will show slides and ask sts if they like cats or dogs? Do you like Cats? Do you like Dogs? Wait for the response? Prompt: I like cats. I don't like dogs.

Reading and listening task. - Emma and Andre (8 minutes) • Listen for detail.

PW Sts into groups of 4. Before the audio is played, give the students the TASK. Listen to the audio and find the following information: Write I LIKE, I DON'T LIKE in the right of the board Write EMMA and ANDRE on the board. Write the questions on the right of the board. Play audio 1.62. Tell sts to listen for who says what. Ask the group for an answer and write on the board. CCQ. Who likes sport? Who doesn't like sport? Mark 'X' under EMMA or MARK according to the answers.

Highlighting TL (9 minutes) • Listen for detail Who says what.

Before the audio is played, give the students the TASK. Listen to the audio and find the following information: Write the questions on the right of the board. I LIKE SPORT I WATCH FOOTBALL ı DONT'T LIKE SPORT ı DON'T WATCH FOOTBALL Write the questions on the right of the board. Play audio 1.63. Tell sts to listen for who says what. Ask the group for an answer and write on the board. CCQ. Who likes sport? Who doesn't like sport?

Have the STS pair up. Give the example. Writing task. 1. I like cats. I like cats. 'yes'. 2. I play tennis. I don't play tennis. Have groups read samples of what they wrote. CCQ . Do you like cats? Do you play tennis?

Clarifying target lanuage. Look at these sentences. Are they true of you. (8 minutes) • Listen to these students in the classroom. Add words from the box.

Write. ME TOO and ME NEITHER. Give students the TASK. Fill in the missing words from the handout. Monitor. CCQ.

LANGUAGE PRACTICE (10 minutes) • Practice Like, I don't like

Controlled Practice. Have students find something they like and dislike and use the sentences appropriately.
