Description

In this lesson : * Grammar : --Students will learn about the present simple affirmative of be, and the contracted forms that are commonly used in speaking through performing a WC activity that will also include explaining that we don't use contractions in affirmative short answers to questions, this will be followed by a written exercise featuring " fill the gap " questions. * Lexis : - Ss will be introduced to vocabulary : common objects through helping the teacher label certain objects in front of them . - Ss will know the difference between cell/mobile phone - Ss will listen to a conversation regarding these common objects and will be introduced to madam/sir and when to use them. - Ss then will practice the mentioned conversation in a PW activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of common objects, present simple affirmative of " be " and its contracted forms that are commonly used in speaking. in the context of Airport

Subsidiary Aims

Procedure

The circular world. ( Warmer ) (8-11 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Ss will stand in a circle facing each other while each of them holding a flag of a country, 2 bags are on the floor with 2 flags of different countries are on them to indicate where each bag ( or any items ) is from. - each Student should use every form of the present simple affirmative of " be " to state his fellow students 's ( fake ) nationality according to the flags they are holding. - each student will have a minute to perform that. - Students will take turns.

Exposure (6-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

- After pointing out the we cannot use the contractions in affirmative short answers to questions, Ss will complete exercise 1 in SB page 5. - Ss will compare their answers in pairs, then the answers will be read and Ss will check their answers. - Ss will repeat the sentences after the speaker 2 times.

Task (9-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive and receptive skills

- Ss will help the teacher label some common objects - by pointing at the item they heard its name - that are put in front of them after repeating its names after the teacher. - The teacher , after explaining the difference between cell/mobile phone using his Tutors 's help , will then tell the Ss that one bag belongs to Helen and the other belongs to Mike and that it's their job to find out which is whose ! after listening to a Specific conversation said by the teacher. - Ss then decide which is Mike's bag and which is Helen's. - the teacher asks each 3 students to perform as Helen, Mike and the customs official after being informed how to call people you don't know their names politely, and read the conversation.
