Procedure (6-80 minutes)
picture description as a warm up, pre teach "flower & hug", if they know, let it be. ICQs about the photo: 1: How many people are there? 2: What is it? -> point at flowers 3: What are they doing? 4: What can you see here?
make a list of things that students can buy at the supermarket, ask them to do it alone then compare it with their partner. At the supermarket? before letting students work on the table ask them ICQs: ok, part 1 1: How many columns do we have? 2: Which groups are they divided to? 3: How many activities do you see? 4: How many public places do we have here? 5: What is the first activity? 6: Which letter does the activity number 1 connect to? Let them do ok part 2, now you are going to make sentences Then check with the audio file.
Picture description Then let's bring their attention to the audio file 12.2 . So play it a bit, then stop and ask CCQs then play it from the beginning again. First ICQs for the picture: 1: Who is harry? --> point at the picture 2: Where is he? 3: What is he holding in his hand? 4: Does he come to the supermarket by car? 5: How many blanks are you going to fill? 6: Are you going to just listen or listen and write? 7: Do you use your brain to fill the blanks or based on audio file? SO, listen and complete. CCQs : 1: When does Harry go to the supermarket? 2: What does he order in the first place? 3: How many slices does he want? Listen again and complete the others. After audio fille, bring 2 students to the board and ask them to read the dialogue and underline the words with "I'd like" and "would you like" !?
Choose one sentence in a text, then write it on the board and explain that what we have in the sentence by asking CCQs, the sentence would be " I'd like some ham" or " Would you like some of these?" or "I do not have any fruit" CCQs ( I would like some ham) : 1: Is this a formal request or just my feeling? 2: Can I say it in a restaurant? 3: Does it mean "I want" but politely? 4: Do I know exactly how much ham I want? 5: Is it a positive sentence? So we use ...... in positive sentences. CCQs (Would you like some of these?) : 1: Am I asking about a habit or a request? 2: Is this a polite offer or a question about fact? 3: Do I expect the answer to be yes probably? 4: When we offer something politely, do we use "Do you like" or " Would you like"? CCQs (I don not have any fruit) : 1: Is this sentence positive or negative? 2: Do I have fruit in this positi0on? 3: In negative sentence, do we use "some" or "any"? 4: Can I say "I do not have some fruit?" 5: Does "any" means "even one" here? General CCQs: 1: In first place, What role does this word play? 2: What do we put after subject? 3: after would like, how many options do we have? 2 4: How many adverbs can we put after would like? 5: For simple verbs, What comes before the helping verb? 6: After "to", Is that verb going to be simple?
Practice2,3 are good as a controlled practice. Let them hear about the grammar that they've learned. Practice 2 ICQs: 1: How many conversations are going to hear? 2: How many columns do we have? 3: How many rows can you see? 4: What is the first sentence in the first row? 5: the second one is...? 6: Are you going to just listen or listen and complete? Practice 3 ICQs: 1: What does Harry have? 2: What is her name? 3: How many boxes are you going to complete? 4: H stands for....? 5: A stands for....? 6: How many blanks are there in the first box? 7: How many blanks in the second box? 8: Are goin to just listen or listen and write?
Practice4 can be supposed as a freer practice, ask students to write somethings they want to eat, and something they want to drink. Give a role of waiter to 1 student and give the role of a customer to another student. Then ask customer to order and the waiter to answer if they like anything else or not. Play this role-play in front of the class
Ask students as a homework to write 5 questions with answer using the new grammar and the words that can be seen in exercise 5.
