Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Tell SS let's watch a video and imagine if you're there - Play the video - Listen to SS opinions (What do you think?) - Provide discussion questions on the screen and ask SS to discuss them in groups (Discuss these questions in groups of 3) - CF: Listen to SS answers

Test #1 (5-8 minutes) • To check students' prior knowledge of the target language

- Tell SS we're going to answer an activity about extreme weather vocabulary - Show test 1 on the screen - Demo with SS the first question (Let's match N.1 together) - Ask SS to do the same (Now, Do the same individually) - Monitor effectively to make sure SS are answering alone, and to know what language you need to teach

Teach (6-8 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

- Tell SS we're going to learn some vocabulary about extreme weather - Teach SS the TL they don't know through MPF as explained in the LA sheet - Check with SS if they still don't know any of the target language - Ask SS to check together their answers for test 1

Test #2 (4-7 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

- Tell SS you're going to answer an activity - Show the exercise on the screen - Demo the first question with SS (Let's answer number 1 together) - Tell SS to answer the rest alone - ICQS: are you working together or alone? (alone) - Ask SS to check their answers in pairs - Provide SS with the answer key on the screen

Freer practice (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with a freer practice of the target language

- Show SS the list of words (Thunder-lightening-gale-tornado- blizzard-heat wave-earthquake- landslide) - Demo with SS the speaking task (what's the most dangerous one? why?) (what's the second most dangerous one? why?) - Ask SS to make a list of the most dangerous 6 ranked. (make a list of the most dangerous 6. remember n.1 is the most dangerous, and n.6 is the least) - (1)Put SS in pairs and ask them to agree on list (Discuss together and agree on a list of 6) - (2) Put SS into groups of 4 and ask them to agree on list of 4 (now, agree on a list of 4) - (3) Put SS into groups of 8 and ask them to agree on list of 2(now, agree on a list of 2) - - CF: Listen to SS answers - LF: highlight the errors happened by SS
