Main Aims

  • To provide an introduction and review of business etiquette in English speaking countries

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of language used for emails in the context of business and financial sectors.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask students to discuss who attends meetings, which of them chair meetings, who takes minutes, what type of meetings, how long they last ....

Exposure (15 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through discussion

Students to predict what kind of protocols and etiquette to expect in the English culture. Distribute each student with a sample point and ask them to explain it to the class.

Useful Language (10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Block vocab: correspondence summary thread complex equivalent sufficient objectives courtesy

Productive Task(s) (20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Unit 4, Business Correspondence, Pg 23 Each student to read and class to respond and discuss.

Feedback and Error Correction (10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
