Description

In this lesson, students learn the present continuous and a compare with present simple based on the photos. This lesson starts with a film of "a window cleaner" and discussion about "liking the job or not". This is followed by a comparison between simple present and present continuous. After that students will learn about "events round the world' by Reading and Listening. Moreover, They also learn how to describe people by a learning words related to describing people. Then students will learn how to talk about everyday situation. Finally They will learn the difference between (but, however, although) and write a passage.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*Ask this question : <What jobs do people do when they are in high places?> or <What jobs are dangerous because of height?> *Students answer, elicit from them.

Exposure (1-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

*Show them the film* *Show the picture of page 99. Thinks about the picture for 20 secs. ICQs : 1: Are you going to write your answer or just say them? say them 2: Do I need one answer or different ideas? different ideas *Ask them about their men's job and their willing to do it read aloud 2 questions and ICQs: 1: Are you going to talk alone or with your partner? partner 2: How many questions are you answering? 2 3: After that, will you share your answer or your partner's? partner's answer 4: How much time do you have? 3 mins

Highlighting (1-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Elicit out 1 sentence from the pictures : A woman is riding her bike across the street. * Is she riding her bike everyday or right now? right now * Is she crossing the street or staying on one side? crossing Then draw the time line and show the time of present continuous, after that ask CCQs : 1: Is she riding at this moment? yes 2: Is the action finished or still continuing? still continuing 3: Is this a habit or something happening now? happening now 4: What comes after "she"? the verb <is> 5: Do we add "-ing" to the verb or leave it without change? add -ing 6: What is the negative form? She is not or She isn't 7: <She rides her bike> or <She is riding her bike> / Which one is a habit? which one talks about the present?

Controlled Practice (1-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

To check their understanding, students should open their books to page 100 - instruction 3. before making sentences they have to listen to the audio file, 10.1 . Ask them to make sentences individually.
