Description

In this lesson, students will review and practice the present simple tense with the use of the verbs have/live and auxiliary verbs (am/is/are)

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide the review and practise the present simple tense

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about personal information in the context of houses

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • to review and practice the present simple tense

T sticks some pictures of houses and people on the board. T helps to remember necessary vocabulary to describe the pictures.

Pre-Reading/Listening/Writing (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The Ss are given a task to make sentences concerning the concept with who lives which house and who has big/small house/flat.

While-Writing (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Ss are given handouts with proper use of have/live sentences and are asked to fill the gaps of the next exircise on the HO. Then asked to check the answers with the S on their right. Then assess the right answers with the T.

While listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference/listening tasks

T divides the Ss in pairs, gives them HOs and exircise the listening practise' then askes the Ss to answer the Qs in the HOs with their partner before confirming the right answers with the T.

While writing,Post-Reading/Listening (5-8 minutes) • clarification

T askes the Ss to fill the gaps on the last part of the HO, with this practice we want to make them use have/live forms in the present simple tense in a personalised way.T uses concept checking questions to make sure all the students have understood the listening context and they can use proper grammar form to describe what they have listened.
