Procedure
Students watch the first video about gerunds and infinitives. Before watching, they are reminded that the video is meant to give them a general understanding of the topic. They should pay attention to the different situations where gerunds and infinitives can be used, but they should also understand that English has specific verb patterns that need to be studied separately. Students should take notes while watching, especially about the general difference between using a gerund and using an infinitive.
Students watch the second video. In this video, they focus specifically on verb patterns. They should identify verbs that are followed by a gerund, verbs that are followed by an infinitive, and verbs that can be followed by either structure. Students are encouraged to pause the video when necessary and write down examples that help them understand each category.
Students read the PDF reference list carefully. The teacher explains that this PDF is an important study guide because it organizes verbs into different categories: verbs followed by gerunds, verbs followed by infinitives, verbs followed by either form without changing the meaning, and verbs followed by either form with a change in meaning. Students should study the lists and review the example sentences. They should mark or highlight verbs that are new, difficult, or confusing for them.
Students complete the exercises prepared by the teacher. They should use the videos and the PDF as support while answering. Students are expected to check the verb patterns carefully before choosing between a gerund or an infinitive. If they are unsure about an answer, they should write a question or mark the item so it can be reviewed later with the teacher.
