Description

In this session, students will learn about how to use present perfect and present perfect continuous in the context of Orhan Pamuk's life events. They will read about the life events alone. Then they will match questions and answers about Orhan Pamuk. Later T will highlight marker sentences from the matching task. After that ss will be given guided discovery sheet to complete. T will clarify MFP. Then ss will do a controlled practice,and after that a free practice to conclude the lesson.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification for present perfect and present perfect continuous in the context of Orhan Pamuk's life events

  • To provide speaking for fluency practice in the context of life events using present continuous and present perfect continuous

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T talk about books in general and ask if anyone knows anything about Orhan Pamuk's life.

Exposure (1-2 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text

Ss are given a handout about Orhan Pamuk's life events to read and answer " How old were he when he received the Novel Prize?".

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ss will do a matching activity as g/w. T will highlight TL in HO1 answer sheet.

Clarification (14-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ss will be given two guided discovery worksheet.

Controlled Practice (12-13 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Two controlled practice. One for present perfect one for present perfect & present perfect continuous

Free Practice (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

SS will be given a sheet to think about their own life events and to speak with partners after they are ready.

Free-practice/ EXTRA (4-5 minutes) • To provide more practice opportunity for students to speak for fluency

SS will be given four questions to ask each other and answer. Re-group
