While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist reading task.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Pre teach lexis by telling an anecdote about my first time in London using the words cosmopolitan, surrounded, and settled.

While-Reading (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed reading tasks.

Ss will participate in a jigsaw exercise. Ss will be set into four groups. Each group will be given a HO with a profile of a foreigner living in London. Ss will be asked to read the questions then read the text. Then in their groups answer the questions on the HO. Ss will be given the answer key to check their questions. Ss will move into four groups again making sure they are sitting next someone different. Ss will tell their new group what they learned about the person in the text they read. Feedback as a WC

Post-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

If time, Ss can discuss in pairs the following questions. Why do people leave their own country? What are they looking for? What are they escaping from? Feedback as a WC.
