Description

In this lesson, Ss will practice reading skills to discuss the issues of life in future, specially with reference to being more eco-friendly. Lesson started with the discussion of life in future and T will play video .At pre-reading stage T will provide control and semi control practice to learn vocabulary to reduce the barriers for reading the text. At while-reading stage the T will ask Ss to read the text then summarize and answer the given questions.At post-reading stage T will give a discussion task in pair.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about Futurologist predictions in the context of life in the next few decades

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of eco-friendly in the context of future predictions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (10-15 minutes) • To generate interest and introduce a context for the reading.

T will tells the Ss that they are going to watch a video. T will ask them to think about the following points while watching the video. Life in future Technology Resources T will play a video. After watching the video T will ask to discus the video in group of four. T will ask the following questions from Ss. What do you think about life in future? Is technology going to effect our lives? How resource (water,air,environment) will be affected by the new technology?

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To reduce barriers for understanding the text.

T will distribute the Ho . T will ask the Ss to match the given vocabulary with the definition. T will ask the Ss to check their answers in pair. T will present the answers on the board.

Pre-Reading (10-15 minutes) • To provide semi-control practice of the vocabulary

T will show vocabulary 'eco-friendly' on the board. T will give Ho to the Ss with following questions. 1.Have you made any changes to the way you live in order to be more eco-friendly? 2. If so ,discuss what you have done and why.

While-Reading (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

T will give Ho to the Ss T will ask Ss to read the given text and tell the summary in their own world.

While-Reading (10-15 minutes) • Reading for detail (comprehension)

T will give Ho to the Ss. T will ask the Ss to read the text again . T will ask the Ss to answer the given questions. T will ask Ss to check their answer in pair. T will show the answer on board.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T will make pairs T will ask Ss to discuss in pair the following: "Which of the predictions in the article do you think are likely to to happen?Why?" T will ask Ss to checktheir answer with other Ss in group.
