Description

In this lesson Ss will practice the vocabulary and grammar from their previous two lessons that is about different looks and dressing styles.This lesson is of two parts ;Listening and Speaking .In the first part Ss will be introduced to some celebrities and will discuss about their dressings and then will listen to the audio file that is about a radio program in which two fashion designers are interviewed. In the second part of the lesson , which is an speaking activity , Ss will be presented some pics and some ideas as well as hints for speaking about different looks and styles.They will learn and practice how to advise about clothing .they will have a more freer speaking task at the end of the activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency in speaking practice , Ss will speak about dressing and fashion types via given vocabulary and context

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using an audio tape including opinions about different fashions and dressing style in the context of a radio program in which two fashion designers are interviewed

Procedure

lead in (3-5 minutes) • to get the students attention and make them interested in the topic by making them comment on certain celebrities' clothing and style

T will present a powerpoint presentation containing a short video of each one of the four characters and ask the students to guess their age and job and to provide their ideas about whether their clothing and styles match the job they have

Guess the Fashion Rules (8-10 minutes) • To make them more focused on the content of the listening task

Students will be given a handout to guess the missing words in the short dialogue about fashion rules

Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To look for the specified information

To find out what the fashion rules were and if they had guessed correctly

Listening #2 (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students will be grouped up and a copy of the listening script which has been cut into 6 separate paragraphs will be given to each group. Ss will be asked to put the listening extracts in correct order. And then check it by listening to the audio. Later on the answer key will be presented to the Ss.

Speaking #1 (8-10 minutes) • To elicit vocabulary students already know and focus their attention to the task

Photos will be shown to students and they will be asked to tell whatever words that come to their mind related to the photos and the physical appearance each person has in the photo and ask the Ss whether the style of the people in the photos match their age or not. In this stage expressions like "I agree" "I think" and "I dont agree" will be taught to students to use in their discussion to express their agreement or disagreement.

Speaking #2 • To introduce some new vocabulary about the modern fashion styles and clothing

The vocabulary presented in the book related to the modern fashion will be introduced to the Ss and they will be asked to mention their opinions about the situations that each one of the clothing are not OK to be worn.

Speaking #3 • To further participate the students in expressing their agreement and disagreement

Statements are given in the book. they will be read by students and they will express their opinions about the sentences providing reasons.
