Materials

Main Aims

  • To improve Ss' ability to scan a text using a topic about restaurants in the context of extraordinary places to eat

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of set of words about restaurants and animals in the context of unusual restaurants

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

show Ss two famous fast foods and ask them " what are they? " "do you like going out to eat? " then show them the picture of unusual restaurants create a flashback of the word "adventure" from U3 and ask them "do you like having adventure while eating?" if yes HOW ?

Pre-Reading (8-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

give them the pictures "look at the pictures" "what is unusual in these restaurants?" work in pairs ask two or three students to talk about other's and his/her opinion

While-Reading #1 (8-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Divide the Ss into three groups : GROUP A, GROUP B, GROUP C give each group one reading and ask them to scan the text to answer the questions in ex.3 write the answers from the PAPER 1 "read the text" "find the answers" "you just have 4 minutes"

While-Reading #2 (15-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

to teach new vocabulary there are three groups of papers with pictures and definition and teacher writes the new words on the board there are letters next to each picture they have to write the letters next to the words they see on the board "write each word next to its letter" ask one student to come to the board to write the answers check if they're correct regroup students to share their information about the restaurant. "talk about your restaurants, write which restaurant is the best in your opinion"

Post-Reading (10-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Tell students "write about your own unusual restaurants" "what kind of food do you serve?" "how do you serve the foods?" "which city do you prefer to run the restaurant?" regroup them into 5 groups so each group has its own restaurant according to time ask students to talk about their restaurants and ask the others to tell their opinion.
