Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Frequency Adverbs in the context of Sometimes, Often, Never, Always

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Grammer Structure in the context of Subject + Adverb + Verb + Predicate

Procedure

Set Context (5-5 minutes) • To introduce the topic.

USE PPT AND SONG: Introduce the topic and play the song for the S's. You can show them pictures of different places on Slide 3 of PPT and discuss each quickly.

Grammer (10-10 minutes) • Introducing new grammer to S's.

USE PPT: Grammer: Never, Sometimes, Often, Always Use model sentences on slides 5 - 8 to introduce new grammer. Model sentences, Drill (individual, half class, boys, girls, all together) and Write each grammer word.

Controlled Activity (10-10 minutes) • S's start using grammer learnt.

USE PPT and GAME: Sentence Order. Show S's slide 9 on PPT. Model sentences. Pick a few kids to say sentences so they get the grammer "structure" idea. Use "Game" for sentence ideas. Break the sentences into 4 parts (Subject, Adverb, Verb, Predicate), *I have broken sentences up*. Write each part of the sentence on a different colour paper (room 405) so the S's get the hang of the sentence structure. Once S's get the hang of sentence order, let them start writing their own adverbs and predicates in, gap fill.

Uncontrolled Activity (10-15 minutes) • To let S's use grammer taught freely.

USE SURVEY: Print out "Survey". There are 2 Survey's per page. Let S's work in pairs. Ask their friend the question and friend has to respond with adverb in a simple WHOLE sentence.

Extra (5-5 minutes) • This is optional, if you have time left over.

Play Hangman. Use grammer that was just taught. S's LOVE this game.
