Description

This section focusses on verb + noun connection in everyday phrases. Exercises in this section are focused on everyday activities and students will be able to identify easily.

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of everyday activities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Talk about my perfect day. Use the words that are introduced in this section. Write on the WB phrases that are used. Ask ss about their meaning. Explain the meaning of phrases.

Listening (10-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the exercise and make it accessible

Show ss exercise. Explain what is it about and how it is connected to the phrases on the WB. Give them a HO. Put them in pairs and let them connect verb with correct form. Monitor ss and help them out if they don't understand something. Play an audio and tell ss to check their answers. Write difficult phrases on the WB and explain how they are pronounced. Tell ss to repeat after you so they can practice correct pronunciation.

Reading/Listening #1 (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Show ss HO and explain what the text is about. Give ss HO and give them time to read. Check if they understand some more challenging words. Explain how to do the exercise. Put them into groups. Monitor them to see if they need help. Ss read answers aloud. Check their pronunciation.

Practice Speaking (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging speaking task and check

Give ss examples of when and what you like to do in your free time. Ask ss to do the same. Check if ss pronounce the words correctly. Give FB to ss their pronunciation, form and correct usage of forms.

Post-Reading/Listening (5-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Put ss in groups. Ask ss to describe to each other their perfect day using phrases from the lesson. Ask ss what did they learn about their classmates.
