James Bond - Listening
Pre-Imtermediate A2 level

Description

This is a listening and speaking practice activity lesson. The students will also learn music vocabulry in the context of the James Bond movies

Materials

Abc James Bond Handout

Main Aims

  • To practise the Ss' skills of listening for gist and specific information in the context of James Bond movies

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson Ss will have reviewed music vocabulary and practised speaking skills

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows to the Ss the pictures of James Bond film in the SB and asks questions about him, such as Who is this on the picture?, What do they know about James Bond?, Who is the actor on the picture?.

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To get engaged in the context and to prepare for listening

T writes on the board the key words (author, job, first actor, Jack White and Alicia Keys - which film) and asks Ss in paisr to discuss these points and make their guesses

While-Listening #1 (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T gives instruction to listen to the recording and to check their answers. T plays the recording. Ss listen to the recording and check their answers. FB

While-Listening #2 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T gives instruction to Ss to listen to the second part of the programme. While listening, Ss have to do Exc. 1 on the HO or right after the listening. FB

Post-Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ss work in pairs, they discuss the following questions: 1. Do you like James Bond/other spy films? Why/Why not? 2. Do you think it is important for films to have good music? Why/Why not? FB
