Places . like and do not like

Description

In this lesson students will be introduced to and practice lexis and grammar associated with places (e.g.restaurant , super market ,..) concentrating on the grammar of " like and do not like." (e.g. "I like going to the restaurant .I do not like going to the hospital ). In this section of the lesson students will choose their favourite place and identify which facilities and attractions are or aren't in their favourite place. Students will then participate in group work for a speaking activity where they will tell their group about their favourite place using the taught vocabulary. Students will then choose their favourite place from their group mates and tell the class why they would like to visit this place. Students will then undertake a controlled writing practice to further practice the grammar structure.

  • To provide clarification of places we go in the context of Park- hospital - restaurant - cafe -super market -liberary - swimming pool - cinema - bank
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of places we go "Park- hospital - restaurant - cafe -super market -liberary - swimming pool - cinema - bank ".

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of places where we like to go and we do not like to go in the context of I like to go to arestaurant . I do not like to go to hospital . she / he does not like to go to hospital

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

tell them about my problem that I forget where I was yesterday . I will present some real objects and elicit answers

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Show them pictures of the places and its names .

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Drill the words and concentrate on its pronunciation

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

students read the words individually,teacher checks their pronunciation ,the form of the words

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T hand them a matching exercise ,Ss work individually ,check in pairs ,T give feed back .

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T hand them a complete the missing letter exercise,Ss work individually ,check in pairs ,T give feed back .

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

speak in pairs about places you like and do not like. T monitors ,correct mistakes if necessary
