Description

In this lesson, Ss will learn how to form and answer present simple tense questions about dating. this will happen through a guided discovery task. Ss will practice the TL in a controlled and freer way.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of the present simple tense questions and answers in the context of likes and dislikes

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about first date game show in the context of likes and dislikes
  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about first date game show in the context of likes and dislikes

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- show Ss a picture of a couple 2- ask Ss some questions (are they friends?, do they love each other?) 3- Elicit from Ss today's topic

PTV (1-3 minutes) • To clarify the meaning of blocking vocabulary for a reading or listening Text

1- show Ss a picture of a couple going out 2- elicit from Ss (are they friends or lovers?) 3- Drill the word: date 4- highlight the stress 5- write the from on the screen Note:- Tell Ss it's not accepted in our society, unless you're married or engaged 6- show a picture of a famous game show 7- elicit from Ss (what's this show?) 8- drill the word: game show 9- highlight the form and the stress on the screen

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1- introduce Ss to Mark 2- Tell Ss you're going to read a conversation about a game show for datig 3- Demo with Ss to find one thing Mark likes 4- Ask Ss to read and answer all 5- ask Ss to check in pairs 6- Provide AK on the screen 7- show Ss ex 6 on the screen 8- ask Ss to listen and answer n.1 9- ask Ss to listen and answer all 10- ask Ss to check in pairs 11- play the audio again 12- provide the AK on the screen

Clarification (5-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language through a guided discovery task

1- present the guided task o the screen 2- demo with Ss some questions 3- ask Ss to answer the sheet in pairs or groups 4- monitor for help and gaudiness 5- show the AK on the screen 6- model and drill the sentences and questions highlight the Stress and the intonation

Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1- show Ss exercise 4 on the screen 2- demo with the Ss n.2 3- ask Ss to reorder all questions alone 4- ask Ss to check in pairs 5- provide AK on the screen

Freer Practice (8-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1- tell your Ss you a friend his name is Mohamed 2- show Ss the activity sheet on the screen and provide them with the question forms (does he/she.......?) 3- ask Ss to ask you some questions about your friend. make sure to demo with the whole class 4- ask Ss to think of one friend and tick the things they do 5- ask Ss to mingle and ask at least 5 people (find similar things)

Feedback (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with language and content feedback

1- ask the whole class what are the similarities 2- get some answers 3- correct the errors happened during the speaking task
