Description

In this class Ss will learn the different types of transport.The lesson starts with setting the context of transportation .This is followed by getting students to listen and repeat the words. Then the students are divided into pairs to talk about some questions and discuss them .. they do controlled practice to check understanding and finally free exercise to practice the lexis.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of types of transport in the context of using the different types of transport in real life.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Develop Ss oral influence by learning the pronunciation of new words. •Ss will be able to make their own sentences about using the types of transport. .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Lead in:I will introduce myself "Hello,my name is Hagar?"and ask Ss to introduce themselves. Lead in:

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a picture

T Stick pictures of the different types of transport in a circle on WB . - Ask Ss to describe what they see?.. elicit the answer then T stick the word 'Transport' in the center of WB. .

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the lexis

T shows realia of types of transport one by one. -Drill the word three times alone and then as a whole class.(drill the all after every one.) -Stick the pictures on WB one by one and put their meaning under them and drill them again.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Hand Ss task in which they have to write the transport words in the box under the pictures . -Model an example. -Ask Ss to work alone then check in pairs. -T monitors Ss to check if they do the task. -provide feedback. -Drill the words again on the WB.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Hand Ss task in which they have to find five transport words and circle them. -Model an example. -Ask Ss to work alone then check in pairs. -T monitors Ss to check if they do the task. -provide feedback. -Drill the words again on the WB.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-Show a picture of two people talking to each other .One of them asking the other (How do you come to the class?...) and the other saying (By.....a car.........). -T models an example with Ss to indicate that we use (By) before all types of transport. -Ask Ss to work in pairs (gestures) and try to do the same.
