Procedure (38-46 minutes)
Warmer: Hi. How are you? My car was not working today. I took a taxi to come here. How did you come here? Bus, Taxi.. Today's topic is ..... T shows the realia and acts out. Elicit the word Transport. How do we call them? Transport /ˈtræn.spɔːt/ Lead/in : Teacher asks ss to match the pictures with the words in the box. Check with your pair. FB: Nominate students for each one. ICQ: What is A? ....................... Check the meaning of Motorbike and Helicopter and drill them. CCQ: Are Motorbikes dangerous? or Do you have a motorbike? Motorbike /ˈmoʊ.t̬ɚ.baɪk/ ICQ: Helicopter sound and ask What is this transport? Helicopter /ˈhel.əˌkɑːp.tɚ/ Instruction: HO1 -- Match the words in the box with the pictures. Are you going to write anything? T demonstrates and give the handouts. T monitors.
T gives the ss the word web hand out and ask them to cross out the type of transport which does not go with the verb. Asks them to add a correct type of transport to each word map. Instruction: There is one mistake in each web. Cross out the wrong one. Teacher demonstrates. Work in pairs. You have 3 minutes. FB: Get the answer asking following CCQs. CCQ: Do we take a bike? Do we get on a car? T asks Ss to complete the word web with the words in the box. Instruction: Add correct ones in each web. T elicits the similar and opposite word webs. (Get on, Get off - Go by, Take) Work in pairs. FB: T nominates Ss to give the answer key.
Instruction: Look at the pictures and use the following words to describe what is happening in each one. You can use more than one word. Students ask each other following questions using the target collocations on the previous exercises. Instruction: Ask each other these questions and answer them. A) How do you usually get to work? B)What's your favourite type of transport? Why? C)Which types of transport don't you like using? Why not? T monitors.
