Description

In this lesson students learn about present perfect and different types of movies. The lesson starts with some texts about different types of movies and leads to a conversation. Finally, students will learn about the use of already, yet, and still. The session will end with a short discussion, allowing them to have a general review of the whole lesson.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of present perfect in the context of social life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency in a conversation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will ask students about their favorite kinds of movies. students will work in pairs and talk about it.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will show some posters of movies and students will guess the type of the movie.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will give students some cards including new words and their definition, students work in pairs and match the words with the meanings. T will write some types on the board and ask students to write some special words related to each type. At this stage T will ask some CCQs to make sure that students understand the meaning of the TL. Students match the pictures in the book with different types.( part A-vocabulary )

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will work in pairs and read some descriptions about different movies and complete the descriptions then they listen and check their answers. ( part B-vocabulary )

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will work in pairs and talk about a movie they have seen. T will ask if they would like to see the movie or not.
