Description

This lesson focuses on reinforcing the correct use of verb to be, Present Simple, and Present Continuous through highly controlled and scaffolded practice. The goal is to reduce confusion between structures and build sentence accuracy before freer communication.

Main Aims

Procedure

Activation (25-30 minutes) • Wake students up and recycle basic structures in a low-pressure way.

"Correct or Incorrect?" Teacher says sentences like: -I am work. -She is working. -They works. Students: -Raise their right hand = correct -Raise their left hand = incorrect Then correct together as a class.

Vocabulary (13-15 minutes) • Gain more vocabulary.

Vocabulary: plan, schedule change, time slot, next week, tomorrow, vaccination, fleas, ticks, mites / mange, heartworm -Teacher writes each word on the board. -Teacher gives one clear example sentence per word. -Students repeat pronunciation chorally and individually. -Each student produces one sentence per word.

Review (33-35 minutes) • Clarify structure visually and simply

The teacher presents model sentences on the board representing Present Simple, Present Continuous, and verb to be. Students identify differences in meaning and usage through guided questions. The teacher highlights structure, focusing on form and word order. Students repeat sentences chorally and individually to reinforce accuracy.

Controlled Practice (18-20 minutes) • Practice correct structure with high support.

Students complete a structured written exercise focusing on correct verb forms. They work individually. The teacher monitors closely, then conducts whole-class feedback, eliciting correct answers and reinforcing form through repetition.

Production (18-20 minutes) • Build confidence using simple communication.

Students work in pairs to ask and answer simple questions using target structures. The interaction is highly structured with short responses. The teacher monitors, supports when necessary, and selects a few pairs to demonstrate for the class.
