To provide process and product writing practice of a anecdotes in the context of sth went wrong
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
ask SS if they had a good year or bad year. What good things happened to them in this year? Make a list. Talk in groups of 3. 3 min.
Elicit about the reading and pictures. Elicit the meaning of the title( every cloud has a silver lining) in this part Teacher will pre teach 2 or 3 blocking words.
Skim: ask SS to read it in 2 min and find what bad things happened to them. Elicit answers. Scan: again read it and answer part c. T/F
Detailed reading: SS will read again and retell the stories in group of 3. Language: SS will read and underline time expressions. Example: last month. SS will have a discussion if they had the same situation or not. Why? What bad things happened for them. Then SS will listen to the CD and find if the story has a happy ending or not? They will listen again and answer the questions. Listen again and take note tell one of the stories again to the other partner.
Activation : write a draft for sth that went wrong, expllalin the usage of while and when. Ask SS to complete their draft. Exchange their anecdotes and comment on each other's drafts.
