in this lesson Ss will learn how to check information by repeating the words or using expressions like " Excuse me???" they will learn how to make an echo question like "it's where???" to check the information as well

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

draw Ss's attention to the title of the lesson and ask them when people use the "Excuse me???". they will come up with answers such as : when Sb hasn't heard s.th well. then ask if there are any other alternatives for it. provide the context to teach the word "concierge" probably by the help of the picture on p.58 Ss are supposed to make a list of possible and common questions that a concierge is usually asked by guests in a hotel in pairs or groups. they might come up with ideas related to 1. making reservation or booking show tickets and prices 2. car centrals 3. spas 4. transportation to the airport 5. train and bus schedule 6. interesting places to visit

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

draw Ss's attention to the picture and the conversation between the concierge and the guess, let them guess the topic or the thing which he's giving to her in the picture ( a kind of pamphlet or a brochure) play the audio for the first time to work on exercise B in part A. listen for the second time to read and check the answers.

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

ask Ss if Maria understand every single information at once or not? then they're supposed to go through the conversation and underline the expressions she used in order to check the information. do the boarding of some of the expressions like the ones in part C ask Ss to role play the conversation

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ss imagine that today is the first day of school and that they are new Ss. they write 2 questions about school or area around school. S1 asks her questions and S2 uses expressions to check the information. they have to continue the conversation as long as they can. work on free talk task on pages 131 and 133 in pairs as well

Clarification (5-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

do part D and ask Ss to keep the conversation going. part 2: Ask Ss to go through the text again and check if Maria repeated any questions that she heard. Ask Ss if she made any changes or she added any other words to elicit and teach the technique of using echo questions. draw their attention to more examples on p.59 part 2.

Controlled Practice (15-20 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

work on exercises 1-6 on p.59 part 2 Ask Ss to put extra stress on the question word cover part 3 as well and ask them to role play the conversation.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

exercise C in part 3: Ss make a conversation at a visitor center. ask them to make questions about places in the city and their partner is supposed to use the speaking strategies they've learnt in this lesson to check in information.
