Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start the lesson by asking the students about the weather that day.

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask the students to open their books and guess where Anita and her friends are by looking at the pictutes. Then they will share their ideas with the class.

Listening for specific information (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

They will listen to a piece and take notes of the weather in each place. Then they will share the answers with their partners and then with the class.

Clarification (4-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

They will be asked to read some sentences related to the listening and underline the correct grammatical structure. Then they will check in pairs and they will share their answers with the class.

Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

After they distinguished the difference between simple present and present continuous, they will some controlled practice and check the answers with their partners and then with the class,

Semi-Controlled Practice (6-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Then they will imagine they were sending a voice message to their friends. So, they will fill in the blanks about what they were doing at that moment. Then they will talk wih their partners and then with the class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

For freer practice, they will imagine themselves in another country and tell their partners what they doing at that moment. Their partners will listen carefully and report their words to the class later.
