Conversation Strategy

This lesson recycles Yes- No question with be and the simple present , as well as time expressions. The Ss learn how to answer more than Yes or No and how to be more frienfly , in addition , on the second part on Strategy Plus , they learn how to use "Well" , to buy time to think in conversation.

Main Aims

Warmer/Lead-in (10-15 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T. tells Ss to look at the picture on page 38 , and ask "Where are Celia and Andy ?" and some other questions to elicit and set the contex , for e.g. "What do you think they are talking about ? " and says "Celia doesn't know Andy , what questions can she ask to start a conversation ?" Now they go to the text, listen to it and practice the conversation in pairs. Then Teacher reads part C Notice , elicits some examples and ask Ss to go through exercise D and answer , then as the Activation part, T. asks Ss to creat and paractice new conversation , they can use some different places.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Teacher plays the audio and ask Ss to repeat after each sentence. (This part can be done before Activation on Warmer part.)

Useful Language (10-15 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Teacher tells Ss to take a look again yo the conversation , write this on the board : " Do you work out everyday ? Well , I come here before class." Now she elicits the use of "Well" , ask two volunteers to Model a new one, now Ss go Part A , answer the questions , then they practice the questions in pairs.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Now in this part Ss try to listen to some conversation and guess the missing words , T. checks the answers and then for the second time play the audio and asks Ss to repeat. As the Activation for this part , each Ss writes three "Do you ... ? " questions, each on a seperate slip of paper. Ss fold the slips of papaer , mix the up, and place them in the middle of the group. S1 picks a slip of paper , reads it silently and answers the question aloud. The rest of the group tries to guess what the question is.Whoever guesses the question keeps the slip. S2 then picks a slip, the game continues until all the slips are chosen, whoever has the most slips at the end is the winner.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

On all the Class time Teacher does monitoring and takes notes on some errors, at the end of each part and Activation she writes the correct form on the board.
