In this lesson Ss will lean new information and vocabularies by a Reading text about Sharks and they will answer questions related to the Text. After that they will discuss in groups about sharks and Fish in the ocean, which is a task to practice on Speaking.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed Tasks in Reading
  • To provide reading practices and develop their reading skills and specific information and detail in the context of Sharks Facts

Subsidiary Aims

  • to give the students an opportunity to learn and practice new vocabulary and use them in speaking task.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

First T asks them about if someone have a fish tank in his house and if so, T let him talk about it shortly.

While-Reading/ (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading task

T put them in pairs by giving each S a number and the students who have the same number should set together T hand the students Hand Out paper and little Cut-up Ss should match the description on the cut-ups with the suitable word from the Hand out (Text) T do FB on board by nominating

While-Reading #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

T hand them a Paper contains questions about the Text so students should read the text carefully to answer the questions They will do it in pars T take FB by writing the AK on WB

Post-Reading (8-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T put them in 3 groups and ask them to Write three Facts they knew about Oceans or the Creatures in it. T do monitoring Take FB by asking each group to tell what did they wrote.
